Countries Visited: Peru Trip Duration: May 1 - June 1 2006 Languages: Spanish, Quechua Itinerary: Chiclayo (2 Days) Lima (1 Day) Arequipa (8 days) Colca Canyon (2 Days) Puno (2 Days) Amantani Is. in Lago Titicaca (3 days) Cusco (10 days) Andes Trek (5 days) Machu Picchu (1 day) Lima (2 days) Activities: Plane lands unexpectedly in Chiclayo due to storms, playground with local kids, fly to Lima, meet friend Vanessa's grandparents, fly to Arequipa, homestay family with David for a week, SECA language school, weekend trip to see the Andean Condors at Colca Canyon, hiking, visiting el. 16,000 ft. on bus ride, visit monastery, eat cuy (guinea pig) shopping and haggling, boat ride, harvesting potatoes, learning Quechua, homestay on island, native dance, swimming in Lago Titicaca twice, catedrals Cusco -shopping, eating, running with 10 group members up a big hill, dance club, salsa dancing, hot springs, 5 day trek to Chokekirao, great conversations in Spanish with many guides, dip in the Urubamba River, salt plains, basket weaving, translating, cultural presentations, museums, Machu Picchu, run to the top of Wynu Picchu, games and stories with children at the train station, RAM - Hogar de Jamil day with children at ruins, ice cream with Martin, music and friends CS churches in Lima and Arequipa, and much more
